Pearl Program  – 3.5 & 4 year olds

Your little one’s eyes will gleam with excitement as they fall in love with dance in our Pearl Level classes! Dancers are encouraged and nurtured as they tip-toe and twirl in an engaging and positive learning environment. Children are enchanted by creative dance games which help them develop the foundations of ballet movements. Dancers will also love getting to make sounds with their feet as they explore the musical magic of tap dance! Little ones have so much fun tapping away and making patterns and rhythms, they don’t even realize they are developing musicality and coordination. Small classes and experienced teachers ensure that your tiny dancer will get individual attention and always feel special.

*Children must be 3 years and 6 months old, follow directions well, be able to be dropped off, and be able to go to the bathroom by themselves to join this class.

This class prepares dancers for the next level, the Opal Level.

Opal Program  – 4 & 5 year olds

Watch your little one discover the magic of dance in our Opal Level classes! Dancers flourish as they joyfully hop, skip, and twirl in our supportive learning environment where every child shines. Kids blossom in our progressive program which is designed to foster their growth and development. In learning both ballet and tap, students explore musicality and movement fundamentals which are the building blocks of dance. With teachers who praise their success and nurture your dancer, they will thrive as they experience the joy of dance. Engaging dance games help dancers develop coordination, flexibility, and strength in a playful and fun way. Small classes ensure that your child will blossom with each and every class!

This class prepares dancers for the next level, the Garnet Level.

2021-2022 School Year Class Schedule

Our 2021-2022 Dance Season begins August 23, 2021 and ends June 12, 2022. Enrollment in our Ballet Programs is for the full Dance Season.

*Dancers must be the required age of the class by August 15, 2021.

At ABC’s of Dance, our goal is to make sure our billing is as clear and simple as possible!

During normal Dance Seasons, we hold two beautiful performances during Winter and Spring at the beautiful Aratani Theatre Downtown. Our pricing would be inclusive and include not only your dancer’s class tuition, but also their costume and recital fees as well to make your life easier. Our families have always loved our Super Simple Pricing! This Season, while we are hopeful to be able to hold performances, we are not able to guarantee it, so our pricing will only cover weekly class tuition.

Fees

At ABC’s of Dance, our goal is to make sure our billing is as clear and simple as possible!

Tuition:

Monthly class tuition is charged in 9 installments*, with the first installment due upon enrollment and the subsequent 8 installments auto-billed to your credit card on the 15th of the month from September 15, 2021-April 15, 2022.

*Parents may also pay tuition for the entire Dance Season at the time of their registration. If you would like to utilize our Single Payment option, please let us know in the comment section of your registration.

Class tuition is 9 monthly installments of $135 for 1 class per week.

Other Fees:

Annual Membership Fee: $35

Prop Bag Fee (for new dancers): $20

Class Uniform: $55

Possible performance fees – see “Performances” below for more information.

Performances

Performing in front of an audience is a special and thrilling moment for dancers. Their confidence soars as they get to show off everything they have learned in class! During a normal Dance Season, we hold two beautiful performances during Winter and Spring at the beautiful Aratani Theatre Downtown. Our goal this year is to hold a Winter performance in-studio and to go back to the Aratani Theatre for a Spring performance.

Normally, our pricing would be inclusive and include not only your dancer’s class tuition, but also their costume and recital fees as well to make your life easier. Our families have always loved our Super Simple Pricing! This Season, while we are hopeful to be able to hold performances, we are not able to guarantee it, so our pricing will only cover weekly class tuition.

There may be a small costume fee for our Winter performance so your dancer can feel special for their performance. If we are able to return to the theatre for the Spring, there will be a performance package to cover your dancer’s beautiful costume and other performance fees.

As soon as we have confirmed a Spring performance is happening, we will communicate all performance information and fees. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Dress Code

New for our 2021-2022 Dance Season – we are introducing beautiful uniforms so your dancer feels part of the class from their very first day. Dancers wear a different color each year to match their Jewel Ballet Program level!
We will also have special days throughout the year where your dancer can wear something special to class!

For girls:
Pearls wear an adorable pink ballet dress, while Opals will love their beautiful blue ballet dress. We stock our uniforms in most sizes, and will have it along with a pair of tights available for your dancer – no need to rush to a dancewear store!

Your dancer will also need pink ballet shoes and black Mary-Jane style tap shoes, which we have for sale at the studio. They can also be purchased at a dancewear store or online. Please do not purchase different colored shoes than those listed above.
Hair also needs to be pulled back in a ponytail or bun.

For boys:
Boys wear the traditional white shirt and black pants, which will be ordered for your dancer upon their enrollment so they have a special uniform too!

Your dancer will need black ballet shoes and black Oxford style tap shoes. We do not carry these in our boutique, but they can easily be purchased at a dancewear store (such as The Dance Store on Robertson) or online.

Our Miss Katie is a Certified Teacher in the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum in Pre-Primary through Level 5. This is incorporated into our ballet syllabus and is used in all of our programs. 

Can my child take a class if they don’t meet the age requirement?

Our curriculum for each level is an accelerated year-long program that has been developed specifically for each age group. It is important to keep dancers in classes meant for their age group to keep them challenged without overwhelming them.

If your child is close to the required age, such as within a month or so, contact us and we will discuss further and have your child come in for an introductory class. However, if they are more than a month or so too young for the class, we will recommend an alternative class more appropriate for their age and development.

Can I watch the class?

Due to COVID restrictions, only dancers are allowed into the studio. Our dancers have been progressing at such an accelerated pace without the distraction of parents in the waiting area. Students flourish in class where they have the best support to focus and engage with their teacher.

As COVID restrictions allow, we will have very special Parent Observation Classes where parents may come into the studio and watch their dancer in class!

The class I want to register for is full – what can I do?

First, check out our other classes to see if there is another time that you and your child can join us. Can’t come to another class? Join the waiting list! Sometimes families will switch to another class, COVID protocols may allow us to add students, or we may be able to create a new class with enough interest. If you are on the list, you will be the next person in line if a spot or new class opens up. You can register online for the waiting list by clicking on the “Register” link next to the class you want to register for.

Can my child try a class before we register?

Absolutely! We offer an introductory package so your dancer can experience our classes before you commit to the school year. We know your dancer will love it here, but intro classes are a great way for dancers, parents, and teachers to come together and find the right class for your child.

What will my dancer experience in their class?

All classes begin with a warm-up to prepare dancer’s bodies for the class and prevent injury. Younger dancers will learn age-appropriate technique in fun and engaging dances and activities which are full of imagination. Older dancers will focus on improving their strength, flexibility, technique, tricks, and of course, learn exciting routines!

In our Ballet classes, we use the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum. The program is designed with a strong emphasis on the stage of a child’s development and the all-around health of the dancer being the highest priority. This curriculum provides quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels, building strength, coordination, and artistry.

Miss Katie is a Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, which is incorporated into our syllabus.

Can my child try a class before we register?

Can we make-up a missed class?

Absolutely! You may take a make-up class during any class for your child’s age group. Please contact us before attending a make-up class so we know to expect you and we can prevent overcrowding. Make-up classes must be taken during the current session.
